MAYOR MICHAEL SPENCE
Mayor Spence is the owner/manager of Tamarack Flooring. Furthermore, he and his brother Morris are co-owners of Wat’chee Lodge, which specializes in aboriginal cultural experiences and polar bear tours. In 2002, he became one of the co-owners of the Seaport Hotel. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Michael was employed by the Churchill Pre-Fab Housing Plant. This is where he learned the floor installation business. Michael was born in Churchill and continues to reside here with his wife and one of two daughters. Michael has served on Council since 1989 and currently serves as Mayor for the Town of Churchill.
DEPUTY MAYOR VERNA FLETT
Verna was born and raised in Churchill, Manitoba. She has been employed by the Duke of Marlborough School in various positions since 1991. Verna has been involved in the community in various capacities, Executive on the Churchill Minor Hockey Club, Leader of the Teens Against Drunk Driving, Co Chair and Committee member of the Churchill Parent Child Coalition, Executive Member of the York Factory First Nations, past and presently Board of Director of the Churchill Regional Health Authority, and past & presently served as Councillor. Her husband is Lawrence and he is employed with Gardwine North as a truck driver. She has an adult son named Duane McPherson and 17 year old daughter named Priscilla Flett. Verna also has a beautiful orange cat named Fluff. Her son Duane is with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry and he is stationed on CFB Shilo, Manitoba. Her daughter Priscilla graduated June, 2011 from Grade 12 and will be attending the University of Manitoba. Verna has served on Council since 2010 and currently serves as Deputy Mayor for the Town of Churchill.
Verna is excited about the future of our community with the new landfill site, community infrastructure upgrades, upcoming Northern healthy and affordable food initiative, and the continuation of the wonderful work already being done to beautify our town.
COUNCILLOR HEATHER BOTELHO
Heather was born and raised in Churchill, Manitoba and graduated from the Duke of Marlborough High School. Heather currently works at the Churchill Regional Health Authority as a Payroll/GL Administrator. She is also a member of the Churchill Volunteer Fire Department and a Board Member for Sport Manitoba. Heather focuses much of her time to her family and volunteering throughout the year to various organizations and committees. She is married to Don Knezacek and has two beautiful daughters, Kelcey and Khloe. Ms. Botelho enjoys spending time with her family and friends, enjoying Churchill’s surrounding areas and keeps busy with the recreational activities Churchill has to offer. Heather is serving her second term on Council. She served as Deputy Mayor from 2006-2010 and is currently serves as Councillor for the Town of Churchill.

MEETINGS OF COUNCIL
The Regular Council Meeting is generally scheduled for the Third Thursday of each Month at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Anyone wishing to appear before council as a delegation is asked to contact Becky Allen at 675-8871 by the second Friday of the month.
DELEGATIONS
As Per By Law 728/03 Delegations are conducted as follows:
1) The Chair of Council may limit the time taken by a delegation to ten (10) minutes. The delegation must appoint a spokesperson who will speak for the delegation. All questions must be channeled through the head of council.
2) To allow Members of council to prepare for delegations, all presenters shall register with the Chief Executive Officer at least forty eight (48) hours before the council meeting and advise the Cheif Executive Officer of the topic and the scope of the presentation. All delegations must provide written correspondence at least forty eight (48) hours before the Council meeting outlining the nature and topics of disscussion.
3) There shall not be a limit to the number of delegations included on the agenda of a council meeting, but the Chief Executive Officer is granted the authority to schedule delegations as deemed appropriate.

Albert Meijering – CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
This position is responsible for the overall planning and delivery of services for The Town of Churchill under the direction of Mayor and Council. The CAO reports directly to Mayor and Council and takes direction from this body. Subordinate positions include all full time, part time and casual employees of The Town of Churchill. The CAO provides guidance support to the Mayor and Council on a continuous basis. The CAO will also be responsible for all facets of the Town’s operation, delegating duties and tasks to the appropriate manager or department ensuring that the best interest of The Town of Churchill are maintained at all times.
Gail Hodkin , CGA, CA - CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
This position is responsible for the overall planning, organization and maintenance of The Town of Churchill’s finances. In addition this position is responsible for the overall management of the administration office and the day to day supervision of the financial assistant. The CFO reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer. The Chief Financial Officer plays a vital role in the administrative structure of the municipality. The CFO is the guardian of The Town of Churchill’s finances and must, at all times, protect the financial best interest of the municipality. The CFO also serves the role of office manager.
Rebecca Allen- EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
The Executive Assistant plays a key role within the management unit. Day to day administrative function provides support to Mayor & Council, Council Committees, Chief Administrative Officer, and the Management Unit. The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Dianne Howell - FINANCIAL ASSISTANT
This position is responsible for the daily processing requirements of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Utilities Receivables and Cash Register, as well as performs a variety of reception duties and assistance to the different departments as needed. The Financial Assistant reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Patricia Kandiurin - MSO/FINANCIAL ASSISTANT
This position is responsible for the development, enforcement and administration of all municipal by-laws as well as aiding in the promotion of waste management in the community and assisting with general reception and financial duties. The Financial Assistant reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
